Old Herald Brewery & Distillery: Marketing Concepts
I have been working on ideas for potential labels for Old Herald Brewery & Distillery's different beers. I also mocked up a six pack holder as well. The Old Herald Brewery & Distillery is a brewery out of an old Newspaper building so they have kept with the theme. Working on designs with the brewery's beer names and the idea and theme of newspaper makes for designing labels more interesting. I thought of keeping the label idea simple with the main imagery the same but changing the background image to reflect the beer name.

Orginal Post: I have designed a few concept ideas for beer tappers for an upcoming brewery in the area. I wanted to get some suggestions on the idea and concept before I submit my idea to them. The brewery is called 'Old Herald Brewery & Distillery' located in the old 'Collinsville Herald' newspaper building in Collinsville, Illinois. It looks like from images I have seen of their logo it seems they are going to go with a newspaper as a theme outside of just using it as homage to the former building. The first thought I had was using Typesetting/Letterpress lettering to create a tap handle with the acronym for 'Old Herald Brewery & Distillery'. The second idea I had was the idea of the old time newspaper criers, those who was ring a bell and yell "Hear Ye!, Hear Ye! Read All About It". Finally the last idea was just of a simple rolled up newspaper that I and most use to get at the house as a child, up until this current digital generation.
The first image is some sketches of ideas I had for different style tap handles that reflected the theme of a newspaper.
Then there are a couple mock-ups of what I would think the tap handles would look like out of letterpress fonts.
From the mock-up of tap handles I thought about letterpress fonts as a sample/flight board tray.
Concept design if the brewery decides to start attending outdoor festivals. I thought a newspaper delivery truck converted to mobile taproom would be the best design since it fits their newspaper theme. The door could be painted with chalkboard paint and be an announcement board for what beers they brought.
